Margaret Dewbury
Feb. 28, 1955 – Feb. 6, 2014.
DEWBURY: My dearest Maggie passed away peacefully at home on February 6, 2014 after a short but hard struggle with bone cancer. Maggie has left us too soon. I can only believe God must have needed another angel to brighten up the Heavens. If you had the pleasure of meeting my Maggie, she will have left a piece of her love in your heart. When you think of my Maggie there will always be a smile and chuckle in your thoughts as she was always there with this amazing smile and laughter that impacted all. Maggie is survived by her husband and soul mate Bob; her beloved son Rick and she was the greatest grandma to her grandson Nate; and she is also survived by her sister and best friend Linda. There will be a celebration of her life to take place at the Port Dover Legion on Saturday, March 15, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. For those wishing, donations to the Children’s Make A Wish Foundation, “where every child deserves to smile” may be made in Maggie’s memory.
Henry Douglas
DOUGLAS, Henry C. It is with sadness and regret we announce the passing of Henry Douglas in his 84th year. He took his leave peacefully at Norfolk General Hospital on February 19, 2014. Henry is predeceased by his wonderful wife Shirley, parents Mort and Loretta, and stepson Tom. He is survived by his sister Jean Kozmic (John) and his brother George (Marge) Douglas, his stepchildren Al (Lenny) Douglas and Shar Douglas, children Bruce (Patti) and Crystal (Pat) Gignac. Henry will be remembered by his grandchildren, great-grandchildren and a great many nieces and nephews and missed by all these many people that knew him as “Oh Great One”, Henry was one of a kind to be sure. Henry arrived at adulthood with very little schooling as was common of an elder son in Canada in the 30’s. A self-made man, he became a jack-of-all-trades, master of many. Working as a truck driver, mutual fund salesman, appliance repairman, ditch digger, carpenter and construction worker … the list goes on. In addition he could plumb, wire, lay blocks, roof and side; he mastered whatever he set his mind to. His interest in the latter years leaned to fine woodworking for which he became quite widely celebrated. Henry’s scale miniature automobiles, trains and commemorative plaques have sold for hundreds of dollars and are owned in at least four countries. It needs to be said, Henry was a consummate perfectionist, quick with a joke and liked nothing better than a heated contentious ‘discussion’. He is now in joyful togetherness with wife Shirley, parents Mort and Loretta in the great hereafter. Friends are invited to meet with family to share their stories of Henry on Friday, February 28, 2014 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. (evening only) at Thompson Waters Funeral Home, 102 First Ave. Port Dover (519-583-1530). A service to celebrate Henry’s life will be held at Thompson Waters Funeral Home Chapel Saturday, March 1, 2014 at 11 a.m. Reverend Sheena Marini officiating. For those wishing donations, please consider on Henry’s behalf the Port Dover Library Fund or the S.P.C.A. Online donations and or condolences can be made at thompsonwatersfuneralhome.ca.
