GRANT, Shari Lyn – After a courageous battle with MS and Brain Cancer, Shari age 52 years passed away August 14, 2017 at the Norfolk General Hospital, Simcoe. Shari was the beloved daughter of Darlene Grant and Wayne Grant of Nanticoke. Dearly loved and cherished mother of Harley Grant (Brooklin), Myles Grant and Richard Sicurella Grant (Ricky). Dear grandmother of Cashius Grant Powell. Shari is survived by brothers Stephen Grant (Nancy) and Mark Grant (Sue Bielby), remembered also by her nephews Joshua and Dylan Grant. Shari will be sadly missed by her long time companion Ray Steele and family. Remembered by her aunts, uncles and cousins in Hamilton, Windsor, and Rodney, Ontario as well as her many friends in Brantford, Binbrook, and Calgary. POITRAS, Germaine Eva – Passed away peacefully, and surrounded by devoted family on August 20, 2017, at Stedman Hospice, Brantford. Predeceased by her beloved husband Adolphe Poitras (1972) and her son Mario (1970). True, loving and cherished mother of Renee (Bob), Phil (Kathie), Denise (Barry), Maryse (Jim), Christian, Guillaume (Joanne), Josee, and Robin (Rebecca). Adored grandmother of fifteen grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren. Dear sister of Lise, Monique, and Gilles, and aunt to many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by siblings Jeannine, Alberri, Rachelle and Regina and by son-in-law Wayne Blake. Germaine was happy being so loved and cared for at home where she was blessed with her daughter Josee’s devotion and daily visits from her family. It was a time full of memories for all to hold dear. Cremation has taken place. South Coast Funeral & Cremation Alternatives Inc., 71 Norfolk Street North, Simcoe in care of arrangements. A Remembrance Mass will be held at St Mary’s Church, 211 Union Street, Simcoe, on Tuesday, October 10, 2017 at 4:00 p.m. A second private family service and interment will take place in St Leonard, New Brunswick at a later date. Donald Ryerse
RYERSE, Donald Edward – Passed away Tuesday, August 15, 2017 in his 68th year, with is wife Debbie (Sinden) and children Tanya, Teresa, and Trisha by his side. He is predeceased by parents, Leo and Nellie Ryerse, and stepfather Wray Hutchinson; survived by brothers and sisters Ruth and Paul (Martin), Gerald and Donna Ryerse, Raymond (Thelma Scott), Larry and Debra, Patricia (Taylor), Alan, Betty Ann and Art (McFadzean). He is also survived by grandchildren and many nieces and nephews, and will be sadly missed by all. Donnie was born and raised in Port Dover where he was a fisherman on Lake Erie. A Celebration of Life service for Donald will be held at a later date. There are no words to ease our sadness or grief, as time moves forward the pain will ease. Now you can rest and be at peace. Sadly missed and will never be forgotten. Till we meet again.

FOLLINGTON, Mary Lou of Nordegg, Alberta passed away suddenly on Saturday, August 12, 2017 in her 57th year. Mary Lou was a former long-time resident of Port Dover. She was employed at the former Misner’s and Ivey’s for many years before making Nordegg, Alberta her home. She will be sadly missed by her mom Rose Follington of Simcoe; her brother James and Elazze Follington of Red Deer, Alberta; her sisters Jackie and Frank Thomas of Red Deer, Alberta; and Patty Devine of Port Dover. Nephews Jesse, Deago, and David of Red Deer, Alberta; Chris and Leah Devine and also her great-niece Luna and great-nephew Hunter of Port Dover. Also by her late dad Clarence Follington of Port Dover.

AWDE, Phil (September 4, 1924 – August 3, 2017). Loving husband to Shirley (Nottingham, passed June 2013). Loving father and best friend to son Tim, daughter Terry Dalimonte, her husband Dan, grandson Philip, granddaughter Elizabeth, and her husband Trever. Sincere thanks for the compassionate care by local CCAC, especially nurse Elana and Melissa, and to the staff of Stedman Community Hospice, especially Karen who soothed Phil in his final moments. Also, thanks to Phil’s many friends in the communities of Hagersville and Port Dover who expressed their concern of Phil’s health and always spoke so highly of his friendship. HARE, Andrea Daphne (nee Feigenbaum) — Passed away on Monday, July 31, 2017, peacefully at Stedman Community Hospice in Brantford. Beloved wife of Brook Hare. Loving mother of Jaden and Abigail Hare. Cherished daughter of Marvin and Susan Feigenbaum and loved sister of Jeff Feigenbaum. Daughter-in-law to Gayle, Rolly and the late Ron and Phil, sister-in-law to Wanda, Angela and Brent. Caring aunt of Aaron, Nathan, Laiken, Charlotte, Chance, Harry and Melody. Andrea will be sadly missed by all who knew her. The perilous fight and suffering is done and she is finally at Peace. A Celebration of her life was held at the Selkirk Baptist Church on Saturday, August 5, 2017 at 2 p.m. with visitation one hour prior to service. MacLEOD, Rhea Catherine (nee Muth) of Port Dover, passed away Tuesday, July 25, 2017 at Norfolk General Hospital Simcoe in her 89th year. Predeceased by her husband Malcolm (2009). Dearly loved mother of Bruce. Dear sister of Reverend Malcom Muth and Gladys Elve. Aunt Rhea will be sadly missed by her many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her siblings, Bill (Bing) Muth, Hilda Dodds, Jim (Laddy) Muth and Grace Rennie. Rhea was a long-time member of the Norfolk Horticultural Society and United Empire Loyalist. She was a great cook, loved to can and took great pleasure in both. A graveside service was held to honour Rhea’s life on Saturday, July 29, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Port Dover Cemetery.
