Bernice Borr
BORR, Bernice – It is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Bernice (Bunny) (Mark) Borr on June 20, 2020 at the Norfolk General Hospital, Simcoe, Ontario at the age of 94, with her daughter, Janice at her side. Bunny was predeceased by her husband, Dr. Mitchell Borr. She is survived by her son, Allan Borr of Sunnyvale (CA), her daughter Linda Barron (Scott) of Calgary (AB), and her daughter Janice Greenwood (Jaime) of Guelph (ON). She leaves behind her three grandchildren: Michelle Kari Barron (Fawaz), Amy Heather Barron, and Robert Mitchell Greenwood. Pre-deceased her sister, Julie Larson, and her brother, John Mark. Bunny had a passion for life. She was an active member of the Soroptimist International organization for 20 years, and a sorority sister (Beta Sigma Phi) for more than 50 years. She volunteered with the Rotary Club of Guelph and she enjoyed supporting the Lighthouse Theatre Company in Port Dover. We will all miss her warm laughter, her big hugs and generous spirit. Muriel Birdsell
BIRDSELL, Muriel (nee Mason) of Simcoe, passed away Friday, June 26, 2020 at Norfolk General Hospital in her 91st year. Predeceased by her husband Wilfred. Dearly loved mother and mother-in-law of Keith and Audrey Dougherty and Louise and Rob McFadden. Cherished grandmother of Jared and Jill McFadden, Katie McFadden, and William and Jackie Francis and 5 great-grandchildren. Will be missed by her sister-in-law Annie Mason, her special friend Mabel Caughill and several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Muriel also leaves behind 4 furry friends. Predeceased by her parents Albert and Luella Mason, brothers Laird Mason and his wife Doris and Ora Mason. She was a life member of Marburg Women’s Institute and a member of Tyrrell Baptist Church. FURLER, Lynn (nee Potvin) passed away suddenly at her home in St. Williams, on Tuesday, June 23, 2020 in her 63rd year. Cherished wife of Russell. Dearly loved mother and mother-in-law of Tyler Hutchinson and Jennifer Swimm and Jodie Hutchinson and Eric Mayo. Proud grandmother to her grandchildren. James Mummery
Mummery, James William. Peacefully at home, surrounded by his family on Thursday, June 18, 2020 at the age of 77. Jim Mummery, beloved husband for 55 years of Rhea (nee Robinson). Loving father of Jim (Kim), Keith (Melissa) and Dale (Kelly). Dear Poppa of Brayden, Taylor, Lauren, MacKenzie, Grace, Carson, Sophie, Maddie and Audrey. Brother of Robert, Connie and the late Jean, Elsie, Betty, Donna and Terry. Jim was a career commercial fisherman on Lake Erie. Everett Lampman
LAMPMAN, Everett Kenneth – After battling with Alzheimer’s we are heartbroken to announce his passing at Cedarwood Nursing home in his 82nd year. Gone to join his wife Minerva Dean Lampman who passed in 2004. Pre-deceased by his parents Vera (Swick) and Kenneth Lampman. Late brother Don (Lynn) Lampman and the late sister Sharon (Dave) Roberts. Survived by sisters Twila (late Roger) Cruickshank and June (late Bob) Miller. Survived also by twin brother Erland (Ruth) Lampman. Father of Rosanne Simpson (Rory), Colleen (Rodney) Bradshaw and Paul (Heather) Lampman. Grandfather of Deanna Simpson (Cody Snyder), Dillon Bradshaw (Amber), Nealee Bradshaw (Jesse Ruch), Luke, Gabriella and James Lampman and Rory Guest Jr. Survived also by many nieces and nephews. Everett was a long time member of St. John’s Anglican Church and Christ Church Vittoria. Served as a volunteer firefighter in Vittoria for 15 years and during his tenure was Captain. Retired from American Can (Ball Packaging) at the age of 55. He was an avid hunter, fisher/outdoors man who will be deeply missed. With respect to Covid-19 there will be a private family visitation followed by service at St. John’s Anglican Church Cemetery. Reverend Rick Jones officiating. O’BRIEN, Kevin Gerard – With shattered hearts we announce the sudden passing of Kevin Gerard O’Brien on June 7, 2020, aged 64. Beloved husband of Denise (nee Johnston) and beloved father of Kerry (Christopher) Scrivens, Shea (Kathleen) O’Brien and Riley O’Brien. Cherished step-dad to Adam and Brett King, and loved brother of Terry (Veronica) O’Brien, brother-in-law of Debbie (Brian) McYip and Cheryl (Billie) Parr. Adored Uncle to many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents James Derek O’Brien, Joyce Elaine Fleming and Eunice “Dewey” Jackman. Kevin was a wonderful man with a good heart, and always tried to make those around him happy. A proud member of the Electrical Union Local 105. Kevin loved camping, playing euchre, watching hockey, playing hockey and was always up for a good pun. Dora Reid
REID, Dora Eleanor (Liles) – passed away peacefully at Norview Lodge on June 13th, 2020 in Simcoe in her 94th year. Just six weeks following the passing of her husband Gord of sixty-three years, Dora decided it was time to join him in Heaven. The family has great comfort knowing they are back together holding hands and reminiscing about old times. Dora was the loving mother, mother-in-law, and proud grandmother (Mimi) of Rob and Laura Reid of Port Dover (Adam and Ben), Elizabeth and Richard Goldman of Toronto (Alexandra and Reid), and David and Debbie Reid of Port Dover (Alexander and Piper). Dora was pre-deceased by her parents David and Mary (Ross) Liles and her stepmother Agnus (Johnstone) Liles. Dora will be fondly remembered by her sister Evelyn Schwalm of Hamilton, her brother-in-law Alastair Reid and sister-in-law Heather Reid of Burlington, sister-in-law Joyce Liles of St. Catharines, and her many nieces, nephews and friends. She was predeceased by her brother Rev. James David Liles, her brother-in-law Lee Schwalm, and her sister-in-law Elizabeth Von Steinner. Dora gave up the city life and moved to Port Dover after marrying Gord (Lachie) who was a local boy. She quickly made friends and formed her girlfriends’ circle. The girls started their coffee club every Wednesday morning at each other’s homes, and played euchre once a month. Dora was an active member of Knox Presbyterian Church where she was one of the longest-standing members of the Heather Club. Dora and Gord looked forward to their weekly routine with their best friends Stan and Ione Morris. Every Sunday they went to Church followed by lunch at one of the many local or area restaurants they came across while out driving in the countryside. Dora worked for Ryerse Bus Lines for over 25 years. As children of both Gord and Dora we have many fond memories of going to the beach everyday in the summer with our family friends, swimming in our backyard, skating on Silver Lake and tobogganing in the winter, and going on many fun family vacations. We have now lost both of our parents, but we have a lifetime of wonderful memories. May they rest in peace together. A Church service for both Dora and Gord will be held later this summer. SNOW, David Alvin – Peacefully at the Norfolk General Hospital, Simcoe on Thursday, June 4, 2020, in his 85th year. Predeceased by his parents Furman Frederick Snow and Laura Annis Nance. Beloved husband of Carolyn (Judy) (Coville) Snow for 53 years. Loving father of Denise Funnell (Kevin), Shaun Snow (Stephanie), Kim Vandenbroek (Averil), Gary Vandenbroek (Crystal). Dear grandfather of Kohl, Noah, Kiefer (Shauna), Kale (Ryan) and great-grandfather of Anderson. Also survived by his brother Neal Snow (Faye) and sister Sandra Misner (John), brother-in-law John Coville (Dona), Lou Jean MacNeal (Paul). Predeceased by his brother Cecil Snow and his sister-in-law Mary Jo Coville and Barbara Coville. David was employed at the American Can for 37 years. As an avid gardener David could be found cultivating his vegetable garden or taking great joy in cultivating his giant pumpkins. He enjoyed spending time in his woodshop creating memorable pieces for his family. David loved to travel and spend time with his family and friends. He also enjoyed special visits with his children and grandchildren and family in North Carolina. Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of David’s life will take place at a later date. SIMPSON, Roger passed away after a brief illness on June 2, 2020 at Norfolk General Hospital in his 88th year. Dear father of Dan (Andrea) and Don (Karen Schweyer). Loving grandfather of Kyle (Allie) and Kent (Stephanie), and Danialle, proud great-grandfather of Kale and Kaylin. Fondly remembered by his sisters Mary Lou VanSickle, Jean Woolley and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his wife Marjorie, parents Don and Mary, brother Ken and his wife Carol and brothers-in-law Jim VanSickle and Robert Woolley. Roger was a local tradesman specializing in refrigeration. His business life was also his social life which meant he worked well into his retirement years. A kind and soft spoken man who will be missed and remembered. MARR, Gail Joan – It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Gail in her 82nd year at the Norfolk General Hospital on Friday, May 29th, 2020. Gail was born in Port Dover. She was the eldest daughter of the late Lloyd Marr and late Dorothy Stevens. Sister to the late Betty Thompkins. Loving mother to her late sons Scott Fletcher and Colin Fletcher (Angela Cortinas) and cherished grandmother to Victoria Cristina Fletcher. She is survived by her nephews and nieces Darin Jackson (Patricia), late Dana Jackson, Julianne Jackson, Linda Jackson. Her great nephews and nieces Tamara Jackson, Alex Jackson (Vanessa), Jade Jackson (James), Zachary Jackson (Jana), Spencer Jackson and Forrester Jackson. Great-great aunt to Evey Jackson and Blake Rockefeller. She is survived by cousins Carolyn Mural, Karen Pedley (Gerry), Kathy McColeman, Marion Van Kessel (Michael), Jay Bush, Heather Bush (Albert), Lloyd Ryerse, Jack Marr (Molly), Mary Ann Varga, Pat Catherwood (Ed), Kathy Kennedy, Sharon La Salle (Bill), Wayne Kennedy, Janice Kennedy, Michael Kennedy (Marg), Linda Lodberg (Allan), Sheila Wobbes, Paul Kennedy (Victoria) and Sandy Smith (Gay). She was predeceased by her aunts and uncles Phyllis McColeman (Kenneth), Helen Kennedy (Andrew), Bud Bush, Bill Bush, her cousins Shirley Smith, Douglas Kennedy, David Kennedy, Jean Ince, Margaret Church and Pat McKinnon. She is survived by many close friends. She was a caring, selfless and generous person who always put the well being of her family and friends first. Her presence in our lives will be greatly missed. She was a school teacher for 34 years, a longtime member of the Red Hat Society and an active volunteer in many committees such as Norview Lodge and St. Mary’s Parish Cemetery.
