Ronald Bush
BUSH, Ronald Winston – Peacefully with his family by his side passed away on Thursday, February 25, 2021 at the age of 79. Pre-deceased by his parents George and Ina (Grant) Bush. Beloved husband to Sharon (Fox) Bush. Loving father to Roxanne (Robert) Mulder and Keith Bush. Proud papa to Brett and Blake Sullivan. Grandpa to his fur babies Max and Jackson. He will be missed by his siblings Georgina Mummery, Rosemary Cossar, Lois (Wilf) Waldick and also missed by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his brother Wallace (Spud), brothers-in-law Walter and Jim. He will be missed by his life-long family friends John (Diane – deceased) Macaulay and Janet.

Dave Lewis
LEWIS, Dave – passed away on February 26, 2021 at Norfolk General Hospital after a brief battle with cancer. Loved husband of Penni, proud and loving father of David John (Michelle), Stephen (Susan), Nancy (Glenn Bowerman), Dee Chappell (Scott Peever) and David Chappell. Nothing was more special than spending time with his grandchildren Alison, Amanda, Natasha, David D, Paul, Ryan, Michael, Christopher, D.J., Daniel, Shawn, Mya and great-grandchild Hope.
Dave enjoyed playing golf and was very active in the community.

Gordon Miller
MILLER, Gordon Irwin – With very sad hearts, the Miller Family announces the peaceful passing of Gordon I. Miller, on February 23, 2021, just three days short of his 97th birthday, on the beloved family farm on which he was born. He was surrounded by the love of his family and his 3 angels, peacefully in front of the fireplace as he wished. Gordon was married for 24 years to Reta Johnson and they were the parents of four sons: Barry (Linda), Douglas (the late Jane – 2008; Flora), Glen (Isabel), and Alan (Diana). He was the proud grandfather of Angie Miller (first husband Frank; fiance A.J.), Ryan (Courtney), Andrew (Kristen), Jamie (first wife Hadley; Rachael), Tara Hatch (Kevin), Erin Matthews (Adam), Nicole Couperus (Justin), Matthew (Nicole), Mallory Miller (Oliver) and Mark (Kassandra).
In 1976, Gordon married Shirley Christmas and inherited her two loving children – Linda Addis (Ron) and Wayne Christmas (first wife Cheryl; Debra). Gord was again the proud grandfather of Geoffrey Addis, Meghan Haughton (David), Ashley Watters (Matthew) and Lauren Tunjic (Tony). He was blessed in total with 16 1/2 great-grandchildren and stayed very involved and interested in all of them until he passed.
Brother-in-law of Nancy Johnson (the late Glen). Predeceased by his brothers and their wives, Bruce (Marg) and Bob (Marg). With the passing of their father in 1945, Gordon, Bruce and Bob took over the family farm in Jarvis. Under the partnership of Miller Brothers, they built a successful farming operation. Gordon was involved in many ways in his community and his church by serving as Sunday School Superintendent, Elder, a member of the Jarvis Public School board for seven years, Reeve of the Township of Walpole, Councillor for the Regional Municipality of Haldimand Norfolk until he was first elected into the Provincial Legislature in 1975, serving as a Liberal MPP until 1990.
He had a life-long interest in sports, particularly baseball and hockey, as a player, coach and fan. Following his time at Queen’s Park, he was engaged in volunteerism, with Haldimand-Norfolk United Way, Crimestoppers and served as chair of the West Haldimand General Hospital Foundation. He was a charter member of Walpole Antique Farm Machinery Association and a 75 year member of the IOOF, Jarvis.
In his spare time, he enjoyed playing cards, making maple syrup and spending time cutting wood, as well as travelling worldwide, particularly to his ancestral home in Scotland. Gordon was the recipient of the Queen’s Jubilee Medal and was honoured by having the road on which he still lived, renamed as the Gordon Miller Trail. With the help of Allison Gowling, he achieved his lifelong dream of writing and publishing his life memoirs.
Due to COVID restrictions, there will be no public visitation or service. A family service was held at Cooper Funeral Home, Jarvis (519-587-4414) on his 97th birthday, Friday, February 26th at 3 pm. The chapel service as well as the graveside service were closed to the public but were live-streamed on the funeral home Facebook page and will be available through the funeral home website as well. There will be no future celebration of life, as Gordon has had the good fortune to have had many life celebrations – on his 90th and 95th birthdays and at his book signing event.
If desired, donations to Knox Presbyterian Church Cemetery or the West Haldimand Hospital and Healthcare Foundation. The family wishes to express their profound gratitude to his three angels – Chris Hutchinson and Cindy and Sarah Schweyer and to his entire health care team, especially Dr Dean Zizzo, that supported and cared for him.
Gord was always a very kind and supportive man so in his memory please be kind to one another, support each other and above all, have fun in everything you do.

Everett Bailey
It is with great sadness that our family announces the sudden passing of Everett Bailey in his 53rd year. Much loved son of William (Bill) and Carol Bailey. Dedicated brother to his younger sister Lauren Bailey of Barrie, Ont. Adored nephew of Jane Booth (Robert Booth) and Valerie White (Michael White). Survived by his partner, Crystal Howden.
From infancy, Everett loved the water. He excelled academically and in sports in schooling and enjoyed the social opportunities growing up on Ryerse Crescent, playing hockey and competitively swimming and boating with family and friends or skating on the river. Everett showed an incredible aptitude for understanding and fixing things as a child; something he inherited from Grandpa Ray in Sterling, Ontario which led to a part-time summer job with Harry Gamble Sr. and Jeff and Mark Gamble.
Everett attended Fanshawe College and graduated as a Diesel Mechanic. His expertise grew over the years through local opportunities and aptitude. Everett eventually created his own business and operated Bailey Mechanical. His expertise was accessed all over the world including as far away as Saudi Arabia. He truly had a gift.
Another gift was his love for socializing with his family and many friends, all of whom will greatly miss his humour and generosity. The family is very grateful for the outpouring of sentiment, condolences and offerings since his passing. For those who wish to do something, we would suggest he would appreciate a donation to the Humane Society because of his lifelong love of dogs.

Donald Barker
BARKER, Donald of Port Dover, passed away peacefully with his family by his side at home on Wednesday, March 10, 2021 in his 95th year. Predeceased by his beloved wife Jean (2004). Cherished father of Donna of High River, AB, Beverley and her husband Tony of Rosseau, Debbie of Uxbridge and Brenda of Mississauga. Proud and loving grandfather of 6 and great-grandfather of 13. Dear brother of Mary Wilson and brother-in-law of Mike Sautner. Don will be missed by his many friends in Canada and Florida. Predeceased by brothers Stewart and David, sister Catherine Sautner, brother-in-law Bill Wilson, and son-in-law Ken.
Don was a Veteran of the Canadian Army (1945-47). He retired from Chrysler Canada after a long career. Don loved to travel to Florida in the winters, originally with Jean and after her death by himself. He started each day with his coffee, newspaper and a walk to the post office to stay active. He was a sports fan, but loved watching golf. Don lived a very independent life until very recently when his daughters gave him a helping hand even though he said he didn’t need it.
A special thank you to nurses Elana and Mary and also to PSW’s Edgar, Walter, Ray and Kelsey. You all went “above and beyond” to help Dad the past few months. He really appreciated all your hard work and efforts making his days more comfortable.

Barry Kennington
KENNINGTON, Barry Robert – With deep sadness our family announces the passing of Barry on Monday, March 8, 2021 at the age of 90. Faithful husband to Margaret for 64 years, beloved Dad to Wayne (Kathryn) and foster Dad to David Monahan. Cherished Grandpa to Tyler and Alice Kennington and Tyler and Elysia Monahan. Loving Great-Grandpa to Blake and Paige Cote and Colton Dyck. Predeceased by his brother Douglas Kennington and his grandson Michael Monahan.
Barry was a proud 24 year veteran of the Royal Canadian Airforce. After retirement he worked as a caretaker at the Royal Botanical Gardens and
later for the Commissionaires in Hamilton. He was also a proud member of the Odd Fellows Lodge and thoroughly enjoyed their dedication to community outreach.
Barry was a kind and gentle man who grew up in Port Dover. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends and loved
the outdoors. He always enjoyed tending to his gardens and going for long walks. He was a simple man with simple needs and didn’t appreciate extravagance. Barry will be missed by all who knew him. He was truly the definition of a gentleman.
In keeping with local Covid restrictions, a private family funeral has taken place. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Barry’s favourite charity, The Salvation Army in Hamilton, would be appreciated.
Bonnie McIntee
McINTEE, Bonnie Lyn of Port Burwell, passed away on Tuesday, March 9th, 2021, at her residence, surrounded by her loving family, at the age of 68. Dearly loved partner of Marc Joseph Noel and loved mother of Brad McIntee (Jamie) and Ben McIntee. Cherished grandmother of Gage, Lacey and Lexy. Dear sister of Marion Weiner (Joe) and dear aunt of Jason and Jenny.
Bonnie was born in St. Thomas on August 14th, 1952, the daughter of the late Clarence and Marion (Lester) Withenshaw. She was a Registered Nurse Assistant.
A celebration of her life will be held at a later date. Private interment in Elmdale Cemetery. Remembrances may be made to the S.T.E.G. Hospital (Cancer Unit). Williams Funeral Home, 45 Elgin St., St. Thomas in charge of arrangements.

Mary Lou Bridgwater
BRIDGWATER, Mary Lou passed away at Parkview Meadows LTC on Friday, March 19, 2021 in her 73rd year. Much loved sister and sister-in-law of Fred and Marlene Bridgwater. Loving aunt of Colleen, Curt, Cara, George, Charlene, Becky, and their families and Godmother to Riley Marini. She will be missed by her great and great-great nieces and nephews and many other family members and friends. Mary Lou cherished her fur babies Buddy and Harley and took them everywhere. Predeceased by her parents Albert and Lucy, brother Douglas and sister-in-law Ruth.
Mary Lou was a teacher for 33 years. She taught at Lynedoch Public School for 20 years and then Walsh Public School for another 13 years. When she retired, she moved to her cottage up North in Port Loring but soon came out of retirement to supply teach and also took a French course so she could fill a position there when she was needed. She loved children and prided herself in being able to teach a child to read. Even on her last day of life she spent some time reading to a younger resident at her home. She also was a sponsor for two African foster children taking them all the way through their post-secondary education.
She moved back to her hometown of Port Dover in 2018 to be closer to her family. She had a strong faith and was a member of Grace United Church in Port Dover, St Andrew’s United Church in Port Loring, the UCW and the Lynedoch Women’s Institute. She played the organ and piano and shared her love of music both at school and serving as the Junior Choir leader at Grace for years. She loved to cook and fed the hungry masses at Ryerson United Church Camp for several years as well.
She also loved self-education, travel, boating, fishing, swimming and crafting. She was a collector and was known for her beautiful collection of bells and had a fondness for teddy bears and dolls. She will be sadly missed.

Captain Bill Jackson
JACKSON, Captain William “Bill” – It is with heavy hearts and rich memories we announce the passing of Captain William Raymond (Bill) Jackson, age 78, of Saugeen Shores. Bill made his final voyage on Thursday, March 11th, 2021 when he soared off against the wind.
Bill grew up in Port Dover, ON and as a young teen started his career as a Commercial Fisherman on the “Long Time” with his father Roy Jackson.
His career took him across to Lake Huron and Georgian Bay, where he fished for over 60 years. Throughout his career, he was the proud owner of many commercial vessels and owned the commercial business Inland Sea Products.
Bill was an avid hockey player and he coached many young hockey players throughout the years. With his love of hockey, he was known at the arena as Papa by many.
Predeceased by his parents Roy and Nettie Jackson, son Michael Jackson and infant grandson.
Survived by his wife Sharon (Nodwell), son Greg and wife Margaret Muir, daughter Margo, daughter Marcie and husband Rick Leeder, 9 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Bill will be missed by his wife Sharon, children, grandchildren, sister and brother-in-laws, nieces and nephews, the fishing industry and good friend Mike Wrightsell. Bill has left a legacy of treasured memories to all that had the privilege of knowing this great man and we all have many great stories to tell. Violet Mullin
MULLIN: Violet Pearl – Peacefully with her family by her side on Wednesday, March 17, 2021 at the Norfolk General Hospital, Simcoe. Loving mother to Brad (Moon) and Julie Mullin and Barb Hawe (Paul White). Proudest gramma to Allison (Ty) Collins, Margo (Brad) Robertson and Abby Hawe (Myles Pavao). Cherished great-gramma to Finley and Maeve Violet Collins. Predeceased by her former husband Jim (Moon) Mullin, her sisters Ada, Dorothy, and son-in-law John Hawe.
Vi worked as a telephone operator for Bell Canada, the Sears Catalogue office in Simcoe and a ward clerk on the 2E Surgical Floor at Norfolk General. Vi was a lifetime member of the Trinity Anglican Church in Simcoe and well known as the member of the congregation who timed the minister’s sermons. She was well known for her tenacity and quick wit along with her visits, acts of kindness and generosity to others. Vi will be greatly missed by all who knew, as she was well known as one-of-a-kind.
