Elsie Finch
FINCH, Elsie Helen (nee Carter), of Port Dover passed away at St. Peter’s Hospital, Hamilton on Monday, September 24, 2012 in her 82nd year. Predeceased by her husband John (2003). Cherished mother and mother-in-law of David and Debbie of Grimsby, Thomas and Ingrid of Lowbanks and Judy and Gino Conté of Hamilton. Dearly loved grandmother of Marian, James, Jeremy, Brian, and Angela. Much loved sister and sister-in-law of Roy and Phyllis Carter of Simcoe and Beth and Don Loucks of Simcoe. Predeceased by her sister Betty Currie and grandson Jonathon. Elsie was a very active member of the community; she was a volunteer at Norfolk General Hospital, a member of Woodhouse Horticultural Society and a former member of Silver Lake Rebekah Lodge # 150. She was a devoted member of St. Paul’s Anglican Church and active in the Chancel Guild as well as St. Paul’s Club and the Church WA. Friends were invited to meet with the family to share their memories of Elsie at Thompson Waters Funeral Home, 102 First Ave., Port Dover (519-583-1530) on Sunday, September 30, 2012, 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. A Funeral Service to celebrate Elsie’s life was held Monday, October 1, 2012 at 11 a.m. at St. Paul’s Anglican Church (St. George and Market Sts.) Port Dover. Father Kendall Reimer officiated. Interment Port Dover Cemetery. LINDSAY, Bertha of Port Dover passed away at Dover Cliffs Nursing Home on Wednesday, September 26, 2012 in her 82nd year. Predeceased by her husband Roy (1978) and companion Aubrey Lambert. Bertha is survived by her children John of Campbellford, Danny (Cheryl) of Simcoe, Sonney (Trish) of Brantford, sisters Kay Shumaker of Baltimore and Lois Russell of Kincardine. Bertha will be fondly remembered by her numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Predeceased by brothers James, Clarence and Arthur and sisters Bernice, Carol, Dorothy, Mabel and Anne. Family and friends were invited to share their memories of Bertha on Friday, September 28, 2012 (evening only) 7 to 9 p.m. at Thompson Waters Funeral Home, 102 First Ave., Port Dover (519-583-1530). SCHAUS, Paul Ward of Port Dover, passed away suddenly on Monday, October 1, 2012 at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Hamilton. In keeping with Paul’s wishes, cremation has taken place. BROWN, Leslie Leivers, son of Elizabeth (Betty) and the late Leith Brown, passed away August 17, 2012 at the age of 55. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, October 20, 2012, 1:30 p.m. at Hope Memorial Spiritual Church, 192 Darling Street, Brantford, conducted by Rev. Tim Dobin of Trinity Church. EASTON, Edgar George Ross – Peacefully on Thursday, October 4, 2012 in his 78th year in Simcoe. Loving husband of Blanche (nee Hill). Son of the late George and Margaret Easton. Son-in-law of the late Mildred Bomberry. Loving father of Carole (Sims), Wayne (Ariannis), Ken, Heather (Dave), Brad (Mary), Priscilla (Kevin), Angela (Calvin), Susan (Bill) and Molly (Dennis). Predeceased by son Danny (1987). Loving brother of Allan (Carole), Leila, Carolyn (Gene), Lena (Bob), Rosemarie (Frank). Predeceased in infancy Lorne. Brother-in-law Joey Bomberry and sister-in-law Pat (Jim). Loving Grandpa and Great-Grandpa to many grandchildren. Uncle to several nieces and nephews. Ed was employed with American Can for 38 years. FORREST, Peggy Arlene (Peaire) of St. Williams, passed away at Norfolk General Hospital on Friday, October 19, 2012 in her 53rd year. Beloved wife and light of Harvey’s life. Cherished mother of Joe, Willy Jr., Josh, Nick and Fred. Dearest sister and sister-in-law of Barbara and Ed Stratton, Betty and Anthony Fess all of Simcoe and Patty and Lennie Hie of Hanover. She will be sadly missed by her many grandchildren. Predeceased by her parents Stewart and Miriam Cline, daughter Amanda and brother Fred. She will be fondly remembered by all who knew her. Ronald Cameron Wallace
WALLACE, Ronald Cameron, suddenly in Erie, Pennsylvania on Monday, October 15, 2012 at 62 years of age. Carm passed away while doing what he loved most… spending time with his close friends. Beloved son of the late Ann Wallace (November 2010) and William Ronald Wallace (March 2001) and predeceased by brother Graham Wallace (October 1995). Loving father of Tara Elizabeth Wallace (and fiance Brian Dunford) and Ronny James Wallace. Carm is survived by sisters Heather Pavetich (Bill) and Elizabeth Oden (Cary). Carm is also survived by nephew and nieces, Scott Wallace, Carly Burkhart (Mat), Amy Robinson (Mark), Shelley Gilroy (Craig) and Brooke Elliott, and also by special friend and companion Janis Pickard. Carm lived every moment to the fullest, and had many great friends, one being Bryan Gillespie. At Carm’s request cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held Saturday, November 3 at 11:00 a.m. at Farringdon Burial Grounds in Brantford. As Carm would have wished, all are welcome to attend this service. Following will be a reception at The Brig, Downstairs at The Norfolk Tavern in Port Dover. Donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated after his lifetime struggle with heart disease.

Cherished wife of Walter. Dearly loved mother and mother-in-law of Doug and Brenda of Port Dover, Brad and Sheryl of Toronto and Connie MacArthur of Port Dover. Loving grandmother of Richard (Carrie Jo), Eric (Jen), Laird, Averil (Greg), Angela, Hannah, Grace, Stella and Daniel and great-grandmother of Lily Anne, Noah, Macy and Charlie. Dear sister-in-law of Merritt and Arlene Long of Toronto, Maurice and Theresa Long of Brantford and Joyce and Vic Vokes of Simcoe. Will be sadly missed by her son-in-law Barry and nieces Elsa and Frances. Predeceased by her parents Clinton and Pansy Ryerse, brother Richard, sister Ruth May and her husband Otto. Barb was active in the community, she was a member of St. Paul’s Club and St. Paul’s Anglican Church, and the Stitch & Bitch Club, Barb along with her co-coordinator Jane Booth organized and ran the Lion’s Antique Show for many years. She was awarded the prestigious Melvyn Jones Award by the Lions Club for her dedication. QUAY, Kathleen nee (McCallum) passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on October 29, 2012 at Norfolk General Hospital in her 77th year. Best friend and devoted wife of George for over 59 years. Loving and nurturing mother of John (Kathleen) Quay of Hamilton, George (Joanne) of Hamilton, June (Robin) Hitchon of Port Dover, Lorraine Hamilton (Neil Emrich) of Port Dover and Tamara (Robert) Whitecotton of Maryland. Sister to Mary Brice of Hamilton. Cherished grandmother of Scott (Sephora), Katie (Patrick), Paul (Veronica), Shawna (Mitch), Lyndsay (Ryan), Braelyn, Brittany, Ashlynn, Catlynn and Brooklynn.
