Port Dover is known for its Friday the 13th Biker Day tradition. Each Friday the 13th, motorcycle enthusiasts from all over travel to Port Dover.
This year, out of concern for health and safety during the pandemic, Norfolk County and Haldimand Norfolk Health Unit officials asked people to stay home during Friday the 13th.
Officially, this year Friday the 13th is a “non-event”. There are no vendors in the park, no beer tents, no camping and no shuttle bus.
Local bars, restaurants and retail stores can be open following provincial restrictions already in place which require reduced capacity.
The last “summer time” Friday the 13th was in July 2018 and saw crowds estimated at 200,000 people.
