Audrey Brown
BROWN, Audrey Ilene (nee Powell). Peacefully passed away at Juravinski Hospital, Hamilton on Wednesday, March 20, 2013, Audrey Brown of Freelton and Port Dover, at the age of 83 years. Beloved mother of Cheryl (Ian) McDougall and Randy (Kathy) Brown. Dear grandma of Anne McDougall, Daniel Brown, Jennifer Brown and Kory Brown and great-grandma of Ethan, Benjamin, and Nicholas. Audrey will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Cremation has taken place. Private interment service in Port Dover Cemetery will be held at a later date. Special thanks to the Complex Care Rehab team at Juravinski Hospital for all their care for Audrey in the past few weeks. John Cosley
COSLEY, John William. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of John on March 18, 2013, peacefully in his 85th year. Beloved husband of Joyce Cosley (nee Alton) of 57 years, loving father to Julie (Scott) and David (Carla), and proud grandfather to Christopher and Elizabeth. He will be sadly missed by his sister-in-law Betty, many nieces, nephews and friends. John is predeceased by two daughters, Jayne and Jill, and his siblings. While residing in Brantford for the past 56 years, John’s roots remained deep in the Port Dover and Simcoe region. An avid Barbershopper (baritone) with the Simcoe Gentlemen of Harmony and many quartets for 52 years, we hope his many friends in the singing community will remember with fondness his love of live and song. Thank you to his favourite bass, Jim Haskins, for all of his “fixing”, his stories, support and loyalty. John was a wonderful role model with a great sense of humour. He was a patient, caring gentleman who loved and learned throughout his life. At John’s request, cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service will be held at a later date. Special thanks to The Stedman Community Hospice in Brantford for all of their compassion and care. Peggy MacDougall
MACDOUGALL – Kathryn (Peggy): Passed away at the Norfolk General Hospital on Thursday, March 21, 2013 of 19 Jackson Heights Blvd., Port Dover in her 90th year. Daughter of the late Peter (1956) and Helen (1959) Herzog. Much beloved wife of the late Angus MacDougall (1992). Loving mother of Darlene Homeniuk and her husband Al of Simcoe. Also surviving are her sisters-in-law, Frances MacDougall of Guelph, Gwen MacDougall of Fonthill, brother-in-law Don MacDougall of North Bay, cousin Audrey Whyte of Port Colborne, beloved nieces and nephews, Neil (Kathy), Gillian (Mark), Christine, John (Sue), David (Lana), Ric (Sue), Art (Marlene) and her special friend Iris Hukezalie. Peggy was predeceased by her brothers and sisters-in-law, Earl, David, Lila, Art and Pat. Friends were invited to meet with the family on Sunday, March 24, 2013 from 1 – 5 p.m. with Parish Prayers said at 4:30 p.m. at The Baldock Funeral Home, 96 Norfolk St. N., Simcoe. A Mass of Christian Burial was said on Monday at 10:30 a.m. from St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church, Port Dover. Father Stephan Savel Celebrant followed by interment at Port Dover Cemetery. Howard Kellar
KELLAR, Howard – It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear father Howard Kellar on Tuesday, March 12, 2013 at the Dover Cliffs Nursing Home  in his 94th year. Loving father to Bernie (Frank) Mummery of Port Dover, Gail (Don) Kellar of Calgary, Russell (Jackie) Kellar of Simcoe, Marilyn (Dave) Saunders of Simcoe and Wendy (Miles) Mattatal of Burlington. Howard will be missed by his 7 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Howard will be missed by other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by a grandson Paul Boswell (1996), by his wife Lila (Farr), his brother Clark, his sister Minnie McBride and by Hazel Hutchinson who supported Howard and Lila’s busy lives by managing their home and nurturing their 5 children. Howard’s lifelong joy was farming and flying. After his retirement he enjoyed many years working for Schuyler Farms up until the age of 84. Family and friends were invited to visit at the Ferris Funeral Home, 214 Norfolk St. S., Simcoe on Friday, March 22, 2013 from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Howard’s service followed at 11:00 a.m. Reverend Barry Yager and Reverend Adolph Hahn officiated. Leith Stetson
STETSON, Leith MacKie passed away peacefully Wednesday, March 6, 2013 in his 83rd year at Norfolk General Hospital. Beloved husband of Joan. Cherished father of Philip of Courtice, Paul of Peterborough, Vaughan of Port Dover, Lori and Terri both of Brampton. Much loved grandfather of Shawn (Kerry), Sonya, Matthew and Katie and great-grandfather of Adrianna, Hannah and Noah. Dearest brother and brother-in-law of Boyce (Jeanne) of England, Joyce (Gerry) of PEI and Ferne (Roy) of Kingston. Predeceased by his parents Wilbert and Jean and daughter-in-law Barb. Leith was very active in the Port Dover community, devoting many hours of volunteer work as a member of the Port Dover Lions Club, Port Dover Board of Trade, Grace United Church and Port Dover Minor Hockey. For many years he was an avid curler, travelling to many places for tournaments. Leith was the owner/operator of Stetson’s Jewellery Store in Port Dover since 1968. In 2004 Leith and Joan were awarded “Citizens of the Year” for their tireless commitment to the community. He will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by the business community, as well as his many loyal customers. Friends were invited to meet with the family to share their memories of Leith on Saturday, March 9, 2013 at Thompson Waters Funeral Home, 102 First Ave. Port Dover (519-583-1530) from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. A Service to Celebrate Leith’s life was held at Grace United Church (Chapman and St. George Sts.) Port Dover, Sunday, March 10, 2013 at 2 p.m. The Reverend Murray Rounding officiated. Interment at Port Dover Cemetery. For those wishing, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society, Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada or the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be greatly appreciated.
