Barbara Bowlby Browne
August 7, 1918 — September 23, 2014
Simcoe and Port Rowan, Ontario
She was Barbara, Barb, Babs, Mom, granny and great-granny, an aunt, a sister, a mother-in-law, a sister-in-law, a great friend. She was an extraordinary person who viewed her life through her own unique lens and lived by her own rules. She stepped outside “the conventional box”, instead, drawing her own box and inviting everyone in to enjoy the world according to Barbara.
This truly unique woman lived her whole life LARGE and peacefully slipped away Tuesday, September 23rd surrounded by love. Shortly after entering into her 97th year, she had a stroke, and perhaps sensing it was her time, made peace with her failing health.
She loved her family: sons Wally and Bill Anderson, daughters Wendy Anderson Breedveld and Galen Anderson Dickie (deceased); daughters-in-law, Estelle and Robbie Anderson, son-in-law, Jan Breedveld; grandchildren, Bev (Karina), Ian (Letty), Kate (Edward) and Jane Anderson, David (Hilary) and Carrie Anderson, Leah Macey (John) and Amy McLeish (Jean-Guy); great grand-children, Lara, Declan, Maggie T., Isabel, Aether, Shannon, Maggie M., Carter, Issac and Olive.
She leaves behind her beloved extended family, all descendants from Russell Milne and Mabel Bowlby Browne. The Brownes (brother, Bill), Barretts (sister, Helen) and Blakes (sister, Sandy), all touched her life just as poignantly as she did theirs. She also had a wide and ever-expanding network of wonderful friends, caregivers, helpers, doctors and nurses.
Barbara was a truly beautiful person inside and out. She enjoyed life, people and naughty jokes … she was an artist and lived her life as a personal work of art … she was a lifelong naturalist, finding her spiritual home in nature … she was an original, full of humour and wit, and she made an indelible impression on everyone who knew her.
Her request was to be cremated and not to have a funeral; instead, a “living large” party in the near future to celebrate her life with family and friends.
No donations please.

MORRIS, Desmond Joseph “Ed” of Port Dover passed away suddenly on Sunday, September 21, 2014 in his 52nd year. Ed was a 14-year veteran of the Royal Canadian Air Force and an 11-year Provincial Constable with the O.P.P. He enjoyed watching movies and travelling anywhere on his motorcycle. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Friends were invited to meet with family to share their memories of Ed on Thursday, September 25, 2014 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. with Parish Prayers at 7 p.m. at Thompson Waters Funeral Home, 102 First Ave., Port Dover (519-583-1530).
